Cattleya purpurata, or the "Purple-stained Laelia" has a zesty fragrance that the IOSE says smells like anise. Large, long-lasting blooms (for a Cattleya). Color variable flowers mean we can only guess as to how much purple vs white a plant will end up showing us when bloom time comes, so hopefully you're open to some uniqueness!
